About Us

Who we are, where we come from, and where we're headed as a church family

Who we are

All people are important to God, so they are important to us.

We aim to be a friend to all, but we want even more to be family. In Christ, our church is a place where friends become family.

Healthy families need a safe, loving, and nurturing home-life. This is also true for church families. That is why we are constantly trying to create a church home which encourages everyone to grow spiritually and develop an intimate relationship with God and a genuine love for one another.

Where we come from

Baptists in Hamilton County can be traced back to 1836 when they met calling themselves Concord Baptist Church. In 1838, there was a debate over whether it was right to support missions (sharing the hope of Jesus to others) which led to a split. The missions-supporting group became what is now the First Baptist Church of Jasper. We are as committed as ever to lead all people to have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Where we're headed

More than anything, First Baptist Church desires to be an authentic, sincere, and humble family of faith. This is a place where those who regularly attend and those who don't can connect with God in a welcoming, warm, and relevant environment. We are not into dress codes, phony pretensions, or passing ourselves off as perfect people. We are who we are by the grace of God, and we strive to be more like Christ every day.

What this means for you

What does this mean for you? We are real people, dealing with real life issues, in a real church environment. We want to be a church you will love to attend.

Here at FIRST, we seek to share and apply the unchanging truth of the Bible in an inspiring and challenging way that produces in you a radical new life in Christ.
